House rules & terms
Be the housemate you’d reply to.
Be honest about the room, respect a no, and say what you mean about shared living. These are the ground rules for using RoomieFinder.
What RoomieFinder provides
RoomieFinder is a strictly free pilot that helps adults discover possible housemates and rooms, save options, exchange introductions and talk after consent. It also supports small groups with accepted membership and shared room shortlists.
The pilot does not charge to browse, connect or list a room. RoomieFinder does not take rent or deposits, arrange a tenancy, sign a housing agreement, or guarantee a match or room. Any viewing, payment or rental agreement is arranged between the people involved.
Use your own account
You must be at least 18. Give accurate account details, keep your sign-in secure and use your own identity. Do not impersonate someone, access another person’s account or use the app to collect private information.
Email confirmation means access to an email address was confirmed. It does not mean that a person’s identity, background or right to let a room has been independently checked.
Different habits are normal. Abuse is not.
- Describe your actual habits and expectations. Do not mislead people about who lives in a home or what a room costs.
- Respect declined introductions and blocks. Do not evade them with another account.
- Do not harass, threaten, discriminate, impersonate, scam or share someone’s private details without permission.
- Keep content relevant to finding and sharing a home. Do not send spam, unlawful material or content that infringes someone else’s rights.
- Do not manipulate verification labels, scrape private data or bypass the service’s access rules.
If you list a room
State whether you are a resident, private owner or professional. You must have permission to offer the room and to use its photos. Describe the rent, deposit, bills, availability and household accurately, and update the listing when circumstances change.
Posting a declaration is not proof of ownership. Prospective housemates should independently check the room, the lister’s authority and the agreement before committing.
Your content stays yours
You retain ownership of your content. By submitting it, you permit RoomieFinder to store, process and display it as needed to provide the features you use, according to your visibility choices and the privacy notice. This includes handling reports and appeals.
Only upload material you have the right to share. Deleting your content cannot remove screenshots or copies already made by another person.
Reports and decisions
You can report a profile, room or message from the relevant page. Reports should be accurate and include useful context. A human reviewer can dismiss a report, hide content or restrict an account. Decisions with consequences include a reason and an appeal path in Reports & decisions.
The platform is not an emergency service. For urgent danger, contact local emergency services; see Safety & support.
When you want to leave
You can pause profile visibility or request account deletion. Deletion cannot be cancelled after the final confirmation. Private report evidence and minimal records used to prevent erased content being recreated have separate retention requirements explained in the privacy notice.
These pilot terms do not remove rights that applicable law gives you. Retention periods and remaining launch details are still being reviewed.
